One advantage to losing weight at home is that it’s usually easier to eat right at home. Restaurants tend to serve high-fat foods in large portions. It’s easier to control what and how much you eat if you do it yourself.
The first thing you need to do is decide what your calorie intake should be. Depending on your age, your current weight, your target weight, your level of activity, and many other factors, your optimal calorie intake can vary quite a bit. But once you know that number, plan your meals and snacks accordingly. Eat sensible portions. Include healthy, nutritious foods like whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, and low-fat dairy products.
4. Get Out
Staying at home doesn’t mean staying in the house. Keeping the yard looking nice by mowing the lawn, raking the leaves and trimming the edges and hedges decreases your weight and increases your health and your property value.
Working in the garden is another great way to get out of the house and increase your overall health. Flower gardens add beauty and natural aromatherapy to your yard. Vegetable gardens produce fresh vegetables, which is a part of eating right. Any gardening involves bending, kneeling, stretching, and standing up again. It’s like yoga, without worrying about your breathing (unless you want to for an extra challenge).
5. Get Going
The journey of a million miles begins with a single step. If you don’t get started, you’ll never get where you want to end up. So get going. If not today, set a date, write in red on a calendar. Tell someone you trust to encourage you and keep you honest and have them do a countdown with you. Then, when the day comes, no excuses: get going.
